The floral ceiling and dry ice brought me in, even though I was told it was gimmicky and IG-groupie-ish. But Hinoka has proved to be much more than just an Instagrammable restaurant. Hinoka is located next to Ding Tea and took over the space from its predessor, Suki Sushi. What an improvement and makeover of the space! The place is so cute with hanging flowers, boho lamps, and paper mache coi fish on the walls. The menu is on the pricier side, but what isn't nowadays. The fish is quality. Throw in some pizazz with smoke, fire, and ice and you've got a winner. Smoke Chutoro 5/5* The presentation was beautiful and so were the flavors. The toro is fatty, topped with jalapeños and kizami wasabi to add just the perfect amount of heat, and that smoke! You definitely can taste the smokiness, contrasting with the scattered bits of tobiko in the sweet truffle sauce-with hints of soy sauce? It also came with a small mound of wakame (seaweed salad) which was a nice surprise. Hinoka Roll 5/5* This was your typical roll with tempura shrimp, avocado, and sauces, but the thick slab of salmon on top was so buttery and top notch. I don't care what hardcore sushi lovers say. I still love my Americanized sushi rolls. All the different ingredients were an explosion of flavors and textures in one tiny bite. Super Lion King Roll 2/5* More like super mushy roll. The roll fell apart when picked up and the lower half was so mushy from being steamed during the bake. Besides the caramelized torched top and tobiko, the rest of the roll was pretty bland. Kizami Wasabi 3/5* It's nice that they have a option to purchase fresh pickled wasabi, but the portion was small and not warrant of the price. Especially since it's already included in higher priced dishes such as the Smoke Chutoro and Sashimi Platters. Hinoka has some other options that are vegetarian or keto friendly, including no-rice rolls. I still can't get over how cute this restaurant is and the attention to detail on the presentation. I definitely eat with my eyes and the camera always eats first, so this is a food porn lover's dream come true.

Food was great! The oyster shooters were delicious. We tried the hinoka roll. It too was delicious. It had hints of lemon. I just love love citruses in sushi rolls. I feel they compliment each other so well. Sashimi came out beautifully presented. 24 pieces for about about $3 a piece. Was it worth it? Hmm... Service was good. Only complaint is the tables are too close. We had customers trying to squeeze between the two tables and their butts swiping the top of our table. Not cute or cool. A bit rude actually. Will this stop us? Maybe sit at the walls where nobody has to walk by? Or the bar, I suppose.

We came in on a Sunday night. Place was packed. Restaurant has lots of tables, easy to move around to accommodate larger groups. We ordered volcano roll and Hinoka roll. Both were good. Family liked Hinoka roll better, but if you want some heat, get the Volcano roll. Everything was fresh. The bento boxes have option of California roll or tempura. We tried the chicken teriyaki and sesame chicken bento boxes both with tempura. Good portion sizes on both. Service was great. Will be back to try other dishes and sushi roll.

Took the family to dinner last Saturday to celebrate birthdays for the youngest son and his wife. Yes, same day! My husband and I often come here for lunch; we know the food is good and the place is clean. The servers most special Karen are awesome. On this day, we met the owner/partner , Minh. Needless to say he made our event more memorable with his interactions with us and the rest of the patrons. We absolutely had so much fun based on the videos/pictures taken. My boys and their wives are highly convinced this place was rocking and I received credit from the group for choosing a great place to celebrate. Thank you to Minh and Joey for the great fun. Minh is so down-to-earth. At first I thought he was only working there. Thank you! I highly recommend Hinoka Sushi.

I visited Hinoka Sushi in Sacramento, CA on Friday, 1/31/25, around 6 PM. What truly caught my attention about this restaurant was the ambiance. The entire atmosphere was very inviting, welcoming, and gorgeous all around with the details of decorations. In terms of food, I was able to try the following: * Negihama Hand Roll (w/ scallions, spicy mayo) * Rainbow Roll (w/ avocado and crab salad, topped with salmon, tuna, hamachi, albacore, ebi, mango sauce, scallions, masago) * Phoenix Roll (w/ Unagi tempura, cream cheese, and spicy tuna topped with tuna, avocado, scallion, house sauce, masago) The quality of the fish was fresh and the flavor was on point for each roll. The presentation of the food exceeded expectations. I also tried a total of two Sake Jelly Shot flavors such as Peach and Mix Berry. They were both fantastically good. If I had to pick a favorite, the Mix Berry tasted significantly better. The service from the staff members was spectacular. Super amiable and attentive. Overall, I truly enjoyed visiting Hinoka Sushi. I highly recommend coming here for tasty sushi, wonderful drinks, and great customer service!
